Paris, (France) – Leading aerospace forging manufacturer of mission-critical components, Pietro Rosa TBM hands over one of the first rotor head forging blanks for the new CAMCOPTER® S-300 UAV which is currently being developed by Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) manufacturer Schiebel. Building on the success of the proven and worldwide operational CAMCOPTER® S-100, Schiebel’s bigger S-300 variant will be able to carry payloads of up to 340 kg and has a maximum endurance of up to 24 h.
The rotor head forging represents a complexity level that can only be achieved by forging expertise and “know how” as its tripod shape requires plastic deformation in three different directions. The forging process gets exponentially more challenging as the degrees of deformation increase. The forging blanks for the S-300 will be provided by Pietro Rosa TBM marking yet another milestone in the development of the new Schiebel CAMCOPTER S-300 aircraft.
