January 29th, 2016

Maniago – Italy – In the spirit of giving back to the community, Pietro Rosa TBM has donated the very latest ecograph (ultrasound scanner) to the urology department of the Pordenone hospital. >>>.

This equipment now enables targeted biopsies in the case of prostate cancer on areas previously having to be identified through multi-parameter magnetic resonance imaging. The Pordenone urology dept. carries out around 270 biopsies a year. This highly sophisticated equipment allows the identification of the characteristics of the neoplastic prostate disease more accurately such that these characteristics can then be evaluated and analysis can be conducted on a multidisciplinary basis for the best possible treatment of the patient.

With this new high tech equipment the already well-equipped urology department of the Pordenone hospital is now a specialty center serving well beyond the local and regional boundaries. Equivalent equipment can only be found in hospitals of very large cities such as Rome, Milan, Genova and Turin. The importance of the donation becomes even clearer in the knowledge that in Italy prostate cancer is the most frequent cancer in men with a 23% incidence and 8% death rate.

Francesco Parisi , General Manager of Pietro Rosa TBM, commented: “We at Pietro Rosa TBM are very proud to have found one more way to assist the community and hopefully in some small way to the well being of the people who live in our region.”
